More bags

I think I have previously addressed my issues with using plastic bags. As I become more and more educated about how detrimental they are to the environment I grow even more passionate about their elimination from our culture. Most people's argument for their continued use is the convenience. Agreed. Convenience is nice. Certainly a luxury and something we could manage to work around with a teensy but of effort, but nice. 

I LOVE bags. I am of the mindset that you can never have too many. EVER! For those like-minded bag lovers or those trying to elevate a portion of their carbon footprint ... here are two great choices I ran across:

Stumble, stumble and look what I found!! This sweet little site is very reminescent of our first true we-love-&-support-indie-artists-&-crafters-website-shopping love ETSY. Same concept with an eco-twist! Cosa verde is a new marketplace connecting independent and emerging artists with environmentally-conscious consumers. They have a blog which highlights artists, new stores and even themes. If you decide to feature your work on this earth concious marketplace, they not only plant 10 trees for every new store, they donate 10% of all subscription fees paid to the charity of your choice!! That is incredible. Here are some amazing finds on my first scouting mission through the site. Prepare to fall ... in ... LOVE!!

Olive Bites

Check out this adorable designer I found. Catherine Ivins, owner and designer of Olive Bites Studio at the Jersey shore. She uses repurposed, recycled and sustainable materials in new, unique and beautiful ways leaving the lightest possible footprint in her wake. Her work is currently focused on the use of two materials: Cork and Recycled Steel. Talk about leaving a light & beautiful footprint on our world. World Wildlife Fund is asking individuals, businesses, governments and organizations around the world to turn off their lights for one hour – Earth Hour – to make a global statement of concern about climate change and to demonstrate commitment to finding solutions. Reusable Bags

I just ran across this website full of reusable bags. They have some really cute compact bags which are fantastic because you can keep one in your purse. We've all run into the store to grab just a few little things, got to the checkout counter and wished we would have remembered our tote that's just lying there in the trunk of our car. Then we try to carefully make our way to the car while holding precariously balancing our items under our arms and between our fingers of one hand and digging our keys out with the other. Ok, not you? Well, this is a great way to avoid that from happening. They have lots of beautiful patterns and styles to choose from. love it!

Not only am a I fan of their product, I applaud them for the efforts they make in communities around the world. Certainly some are more impressive than others and they have a long way to go considering what a huge conglomerate they are, but they certainly give it a greater effort than other big business, corporate America, industry giants with no conscious about the world at large. But I digress.

If you haven't heard the Coca-Cola company has launched a new "company-within-the-company". They are about to make big business (and hopefully an even bigger impact) out of recycling and setting some industry standards about being better world citizens as a company.
